Financial Manager, Operations Manager
Description
We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our team by overseeing the financial management for Curling Ontario. Expected start date is May 1, 2026.
OrganizationThe Ontario Curling Association (Curling Ontario) is a non‑profit organization guided by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. Curling Ontario is the provincial sport organization (PSO) governing amateur curling in Ontario with more than 220 member curling facilities serving approximately 85,000 curlers. As a unified organization formed through the merger of three associations, we now operate over 30 provincial championships and support curlers, teams, and member facilities through comprehensive recreational and competitive programming.

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring fiscal integrity, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role supports the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors by providing accurate financial reporting, budget oversight, risk management, and strong internal controls.
The ideal candidate brings non‑profit financial management experience, knowledge of Ontario regulatory requirements, and a collaborative approach to supporting program delivery and organizational growth.
Position TitleFinance Manager
Reporting StructureThe Finance Manager reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and cash flow management
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Develop and monitor organizational budgets in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and program leads
- Support financial forecasting and long‑term financial planning
- Ensure compliance with:
- Ontario Not‑for‑Profit Corporations Act (ONCA)
- Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements
- Grant and funding agreements
- Lead annual audit process
- Maintain appropriate financial policies, internal controls, and risk management practices
- Support government and partner reporting requirements
- Monitor program budgets to ensure alignment with approved funding
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies
- May be required to attend board meetings (virtual) in the role of secretary to document meeting minutes.
- Self‑driven, highly motivated and enthusiastic
- Comfortable in a leadership role
- Clear criminal record check
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven organizational and time management skills
- Highly ethical behaviour
- Minimum undergraduate degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive financial management experience
- Experience in non‑profit and/or sport sector strongly preferred
- Knowledge of ONCA and non‑profit governance best practices
- Experience with grant reporting and government funding agreements
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of curling, Ontario/Canadian Sport System is an asset
- Full‑time position
- Preference for Durham Region applicants
- Remote working environment from anywhere within Ontario. Some in‑person meetings may be required throughout the year (staff retreats, AGM, occasional in‑person meetings).
