We are currently looking for a T&D Supervisor to join our Western Regional Operations team at the Coldbrook depot in a permanent position. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Western Territory, you'll be a key leader driving operational excellence, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery while optimizing our team's potential to provide exceptional customer experiences.
Key elements of this role include:- You will ensure Nova Scotia Power’s standards for customer service are met or exceeded by utilizing a skilled workforce to complete operating, maintenance, and construction activities in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- As the successful applicant, you may be required to work throughout the province based on the business requirements.
- Champion our safety culture by proactively developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs, conducting thorough investigations, and creating an environment where employee and public safety is our highest priority.
- You will establish a mutually supportive working relationship with other field supervisors, regional and business administration support groups, external business contacts and planning work groups.
- The T&D Supervisor will maintain good labour relations and employee morale by providing training and development opportunities; ensure vehicles and tools are effectively operated and maintained; sustain a current knowledge of rates, regulations, policies, procedures, practices, standards, and collective agreements.
- You will assist in the preparation of budgets and financial projections and will implement cost control measures.
- You must be available for rotational supervisory standby. You must demonstrate your ongoing personal commitment to the Capabilities Development Process.
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
These skills will make you successful:- High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- A Power Line Technician (PLT) Certificate is preferred.
- Candidates with a certificate in another Electrical Trade, Engineering Technology, or as an Electrical Technician may also be considered.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated negotiation, communication, organizational and leadership capabilities.
- Adaptable to change and a self-motivated individual who is committed to optimizing the work management and scheduling processes.
- Good working knowledge of computers, knowledge of the work management and scheduling system, and experience in electrical overhead and underground distribution operations would be preferred.
- Previous supervision of crews or external contractors would be an asset.
- Experience in an electrical utility would be an asset.
