ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)
The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the T’exelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. POSITION
Reporting to the Director of Member Services, and as part of the Information Technology Department, the Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, securing, and supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure, systems, and networks. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and security of servers, cloud services, endpoints, and applications while providing advanced technical support to staff. The Systems Administrator plays a key role in cybersecurity, system improvements, documentation, and long-term IT planning to support the growing needs of Williams Lake First Nation.
Employment Type
Full-Time Permanent (35 hours per week). Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Probation Period
3 months from the date of hire.
Education Required
Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, or equivalent are considered an asset.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience Required
Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a Systems Administrator or similar technical role.
Demonstrated experience supporting Microsoft 365, Windows Server environments, and endpoint devices.
Experience working with networking, security, and backup systems.
Overtime Status
Non-exempt.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer, maintain, and monitor server environments including Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365.
Manage user accounts, permissions, group policies, and access controls to ensure security and compliance.
Maintain endpoint management systems including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
Monitor system performance, availability, and security, and proactively address issues before service disruption occurs.
Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures including patch management, antivirus, endpoint protection, email security, and backup solutions.
Respond to escalated technical issues and provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution.
Manage backups, disaster recovery processes, and business continuity planning.
Support network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and VPNs.
Document systems, procedures, configurations, and changes in accordance with best practices.
Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to plan, implement, and support IT projects.
Assist with budgeting, asset management, and lifecycle planning for IT equipment and systems.
Provide guidance and mentorship to IT staff when required.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, privacy legislation, and cybersecurity standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, system administration, networking, and cybersecurity principles.
Proficient use of information technologies including servers, cloud platforms, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of backup systems, disaster recovery, and data protection best practices.
Skills And Abilities
