Human Resources Coordinator

The Innu Round Table Secretariat (IRTS), is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Coordinator
.

About the Innu Round Table Secretariat:

The IRTS is an Innu corporation committed to capacity development and joint service delivery for both Innu communities. It also facilitates the tripartite Innu Round Table meeting process between Innu, provincial, and federal governments.

Position Overview:

This is a full-time position based in Sheshatshiu. As a Human Resources Coordinator, you will report to the Executive Director (ED) and manage a range of HR duties to support the administration and operations of IRTS.

Your role will involve implementing and maintaining HR functions, coordinating HR services, and developing effective strategies related to employment, policy development, compensation, performance management, training, benefits, and employee relations.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Management:
  • Employee recruitment and onboarding
  • Advising managers on HR legislation and policy
  • Supporting performance management and training needs
  • Managing HR documents and employee files
  • Strategic Planning:
  • Participating in strategic planning and implementation
  • Cultivating leadership and ethical values
  • Aligning workforce with IRTS's strategic goals
  • Recruitment:
  • Leading recruiting and hiring practices
  • Coordinating employee selection committees
  • Overseeing onboarding and orientation
  • Compensation & Benefits:
  • Analyzing compensation rates
  • Administering employee benefits programs
  • Maintaining benefits and personnel records
  • Performance Management:
  • Implementing performance management systems
  • Supporting annual performance evaluations
  • Employee Relations:
  • Providing HR guidance to managers
  • Implementing disciplinary processes
  • Conducting investigations into employee concerns
  • Cultural Support:
  • Promoting culturally relevant programming
  • Supporting diversity and cultural learning
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Business Administration, Human Resources, Sociology/Psychology, or related field
  • 3-5 years of professional HR experience or
  • Combination of professional experience and education in public/business administration and human resources leadership
  • Preference given to qualified Indigenous candidates

  • Highly organized and proactive
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well with diverse personalities
  • Other Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate in Innu-Aimun (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Innu and First Nations culture and traditions
  • Experience with Sage/Acc Pac (or similar) and Group Pension/Benefit Plans
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, Excel and G-Suite computer applications
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Clear Criminal Record check
  • Mandatory certificates related to the position
