Reporting to the Regional Manager Population Health, the Public Health Nursing Practice Consultant ensures that individuals, families and communities in the region have access to high quality public health programs and services, including maternal child health, school health, sexual health, communicable disease surveillance, prevention and control.
The Public Health Nursing Practice Consultant, in collaboration with the regional management and the communities, establishes public health priorities in the region; provides leadership for program implementation, team building and integration of services provided by multi-disciplinary teams of health professionals and community services across the region. The incumbent oversees mandated public health programs and monitors compliance with territorial policies and standards for population health and health promotion.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through an undergraduate degree in Nursing, plus three (3) years of public health nursing experience Candidates must be eligible to register with CANNN. A master’s degree in public health is considered an asset.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
