Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Medical Radiation Technologist to join the Medical Imaging Team at Bella Coola General Hospital in Bella Coola, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Medical Radiation Technologist, you will:

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging procedures/techniques and related duties, observing safe radiation protection practices.
  • Receive and complete requisitions, enter relevant data into the radiology information system, prepare patients for examination, operate radiographic and computerized imaging equipment including processing radiographs and archiving of acquired data, monitoring patients during procedures, monitoring equipment performance, and maintaining cleanliness of examination rooms.

    • ABOUT BELLA COOLA, BC

    Bella Coola sits in a mountain valley at the head of the North Bentinck Channel, 500 km north of Vancouver, with a population of about 1800 people. The community is at the end of a long, truly magnificent fjord, on the mainland coast of British Columbia. Bella Coola General Hospital has 10 acute bed, 5 long term care beds and a 3 bed emergency department open 24/7, along with a laboratory, diagnostic imaging services, Telehealth, Mental Health, Public Health, Home & Community Support Services.

    Also within the hospital are a medical clinic and a pharmacy.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

  • Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.

    • Knowledge & Abilities

  • Broad knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, co-workers, physicians, and other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

    As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
