Where you will be stationed:
Peace River station, a brand-new facility located beside the Peace River Community Health Centre. Peace River is situated on the banks of the Peace River, approximately 2 hours northeast of Grande Prairie, under 3 hours to Slave Lake, and 5 hours north of Edmonton.
Compensation and benefits include competitive pay and flexible benefits, with a Remote Retention Allowance up to an annual maximum of $3,000. The allowance is non-pensionable and payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description / ResponsibilitiesPrimary Care Paramedic (PCP) duties include assessing emergency scenes and patients, and transporting ill or injured patients between scenes and facilities. You may operate ambulances or other modes of transportation and may treat patients by administering minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation. You may lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during transport or at emergency scenes.
You will assist with ensuring that EMS vehicles (including non-emergent transport) are properly stocked and equipped. The working environment is demanding and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, moving traffic, and industrial and agricultural equipment, with travel to remote locations and exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and bodily fluids. Physical demands include frequent lifting and carrying up to 105 lbs, frequent kneeling and trunk flexion, standing and sitting for extended periods, bending, twisting, side-carrying up to 20 lbs in each hand, and assuming awkward positions.

- Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) certification.
- Valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent, or ability to obtain; five-year driver abstract current within six months with no more than six demerits.
- Proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via Lifemark (if not currently in a clinical AHS EMS position). Test must be completed no more than six months prior to application;

Preferred Qualifications- Preference given to candidates with EMS experience in metro, suburban, rural, or interfacility settings and with other health care or public safety experience.
- Completion of additional post-secondary programs is considered an asset and will be considered during the selection process. Applicants should provide post-secondary education credentials.
