Our client, a well established and growing real estate investment and asset management firm is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and hands‑on Vice President of Finance to serve as the right hand to the CFO. The VP of Finance will lead the financial engine of a growing real estate investment platform and play a pivotal role in strengthening financial infrastructure, enhancing internal controls, and ensuring institutional‑quality reporting to investors, lenders, and senior stakeholders.

Acting as a strategic partner to executive leadership, this individual will translate corporate objectives into disciplined financial execution while ensuring seamless day‑to‑day oversight of all accounting and finance functions including Corporate Finance, Treasury, and Financial Reporting & Analysis, Fund Accounting and Property Accounting.

The Opportunity

You will translate business strategy into disciplined financial execution while ensuring seamless day‑to‑day financial operations. This role combines strategic leadership with operational depth and requires a strong command of fund structures, investor reporting, treasury management and financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities Executive Finance Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multi‑disciplinary senior finance team across fund accounting, FP&A, corporate finance and property accounting.
  • Own all month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes across corporate and fund entities.
  • Establish and enforce best‑in‑class internal controls, accounting policies, and SOPs.
  • Drive ERP optimization and automation initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership to align financial execution with growth targets.
  • Deliver accurate, consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages, including MD&A.
  • Lead budgeting and quarterly re‑forecasting processes across all business units.
  • Design executive dashboards tracking KPIs and operational metrics for all portfolios.
  • Conduct complex variance and trend analysis and provide actionable insights to the CFO and Board.
  • Oversee NAV calculations and capital account reporting.
  • Manage capital calls, distributions, and complex waterfall structures.
  • Ensure compliance with partnership agreements and LP reporting requirements.
  • Lead fund audits, tax schedule preparation, and Offering Memorandum updates.
Corporate Finance & Treasury
  • Oversee daily treasury operations, liquidity management, and working capital planning.
  • Ensure compliance with debt covenants and lender reporting.
  • Manage corporate budgeting, departmental tracking, and payroll funding.
  • Support investor relations and corporate finance initiatives.
  • Lead ad‑hoc financial analysis and strategic projects.
Property Accounting
  • Oversee timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS / ASPE.
  • Lead the full property accounting cycle, including rent rolls, cash flow reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Enforce rigorous oversight of AP, AR, and tenant ledgers.
  • Partner with asset and property management to resolve operational finance matters.
  • Optimize Yardi workflows to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Active CPA or CA designation required (CFA is an asset)
  • 12‑15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience with 5+ years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven experience building or scaling finance teams, leveraging technology, and implementing ERP systems
  • Strong leadership presence with executive‑level communication skills
