Bravo Zulu is a Canadian mission-support company delivering logistics, infrastructure, fleet, and personnel services for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), NATO, and allied organizations.
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Finance Manager ensures financial health, compliance, and operational support both in Canada and for deployed theatres. This role supports senior leadership and deployed project teams by managing budgets, financial reporting, audits, and controls. The Finance Manager will partner closely with Project Managers, HQ teams, and external stakeholders (e.g. CAF / NATO / funders) to ensure financial decisions are timely, accurate, and aligned with Bravo Zulu’s operational and strategic priorities.
KEYQUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent.
- CPA designation (or working toward) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in finance / accounting roles, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership / management capacity.
- Experience with project-based finance, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, cost control.
- Solid understanding of Canadian accounting standards, tax law, payroll, HST/GST, audits.
- Experience working with defence / contract / donor / government funding frameworks is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in financial software / ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Desirable:
Experience supporting deployed or international operations (e.g. field teams, overseas projects). - Familiarity with CAF / NATO procurement / contracting / security clearance requirements.
- Experience with multiple currencies, foreign exchange, cost overhead allocation.
- Process improvement / automation / data analytics skills (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- Ability to travel or deploy for oversight, audits, or support as required.
Prepare annual organizational budget and rolling forecasts.
Provide financial projections, scenario analysis, and variance reporting to senior leadership.
Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to internal stakeholders, clients, funders, and auditors.
Project Finance Oversight
Oversee the financials of deployed and domestic projects: cost tracking, cash flows, invoicing, billing, cost-recovery.
Ensure project budgets are established, approved, and adhered to; monitor costs vs budget; elevate variances.
Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure financial deliverables are met under contract.
Controls, Compliance & Audit
Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks—including financial policies, procedures, reconciliation schedules, expense controls.
Ensure compliance with Canadian laws/regulations (CRA, GST/HST, T4, payroll, etc.) and defence / military contracting requirements.
Coordinate audits (internal, external, funder) and ensure timely submission and resolution of findings.
Supervise accounting / finance staff; manage performance, development, and workload.
Oversee finance systems & technology: ERP, accounting software, reporting dashboards.
Identify and implement process improvements & automation opportunities.
Assist with financial risk assessment: currency risk, cost overruns, supply chain disruptions.
Provide financial modelling / business case analysis for proposed projects or operational changes.
Support senior management in strategic decisions with financial insight.
