The Engineering Projects Department is an integral part of YVR, we support the construction and development projects on Sea Island.

Position Overview

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for an  Intermediate or Senior Project Engineer  in the Engineering Projects Department. Reporting to the Manager, Airport Terminal Projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and management of a diverse array of mid-sized to large design and construction projects, with a focus on within the airport terminal and ancillary buildings.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing assigned capital projects including developing project requirements, project scope, budget and schedule.
Supporting Senior Project Engineers with the delivery of larger or more complex projects.
Preparing and delivering on project implementation plans in collaboration with Airport Operations and Maintenance.
Assisting in the preparation and evaluation of Request for Proposal and Tender documents, including scope of work definition, technical requirements and schedule constraints.
Managing design teams to meet desired project outcomes while adhering to scope, schedule and budget.
Managing construction contracts, work progress, change orders, payments and disputes.
Providing leadership in the areas of construction safety and environmental stewardship.
Maintaining and managing project budgets including forecasting costs and risk management.
Liaising with internal Airport Authority departments and external stakeholders throughout the project.
Key qualifications include:
Completion of a university degree in mechanical or electrical engineering combined with a minimum of five years’ experience in the design, construction or consulting industry; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Ability to register as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC); completion of the Law and Ethics seminar is required.
Knowledge of construction industry practices and standards; knowledge of airport operations is an asset.
Demonstrated project management skills including organizational, coordination, negotiation, scheduling and budgeting skills, PMP certification is considered an asset.
Proficiency using Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project
Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Proven leadership experience with strong people and time management skills.
Sound knowledge of contract law and contract administration process.
Must be able to obtain Transport Canada security clearance.

Salary Range :  $96,937 to $ $125,944 for Intermediate or Band 11, $102,693 to $134,213 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
