Are you looking for a role that will challenge you? We are seeking a Project Engineering Professional to support the planning and delivery of work packages in the Whiteshell Laboratories Restoration Project (WLRP) portfolio. Do you have experience planning, managing, and completing large and complex decommissioning projects to the full satisfaction of Project Clients? What will you be doing!
Providing oversight of changes in the field during the implementation activities in the decommissioning portfolio.
Preparing detailed decommissioning work packages, technical documents, work scopes, procedures, estimates and schedules in support of decommissioning projects.
Performing independent research on industry best practices, complex decommissioning challenges/lessons learned, and presenting arguments in a well-structured manner, suitable for a varied audience.
Providing innovative solutions to decommissioning and waste management challenges.
Performing field walk-downs to verify the status of facilities against documented plans.
Coordinating and monitoring services provided to Decommissioning by external suppliers.
Participating or leading Pre/Post Job reviews.
Initiating and maintaining productive relationships with internal service providers. Interfacing with design participants, operations engineers, technical staff and nuclear operators and obtaining technical input, as required, to meet Project and Client requirements.
Providing exceptional reporting and communication on project status with emphasis on technical issues/solutions.
Implementing project management methodologies to plan, control and monitor the execution of assigned work, including coordinating internal resources or external contracts that contribute to the project's success.
Ensuring that deliverables meet the quality objectives of the project and that deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
Identifying, assessing, and initiating changes to approved designs, work scopes, budgets, and schedules in accordance with applicable change control processes.
Representing CNL in a professional capacity and liaising with internal and external design consultants and contractors, regulators, stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and clients.
Representing CNL interests in the management of contracts with external vendors.
Travelling to external suppliers, as required, to effectively execute the implementation phases of the project.
Effective participation in hazard assessment and determination of controls.
Personally responsible for their own safety.
Identifying and reporting any real or potential safety hazards, wearing all safety equipment related to your position, and participating in all safety training offered through the facility.
Adhering to Workplace Safety and health procedures, WHMIS program, keeping current with practices, working in a prudent and safe manner and informing other employees if they are using unsafe work practices or equipment.
Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
Being a sponsor when required.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
Education Honours Bachelor degree in engineering or applied science from a university of recognized standing, or appropriate certification in a field of specialization pertinent to the position.
A Project Management Professional or similar project certification is considered an asset.
Experience:
5 years of engineering experience and a Member of a provincial professional engineering association (or eligible to be a member), or significant related experience in a field of specialization pertinent to the position.
Experience with Federal Environmental Assessments is an asset.
Experience with decommissioning a nuclear facility is an asset.
Eligible for Membership with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba or other professional organization.
Experienced in dealing with engineering and construction contractors.
Experience in a nuclear operational or decommissioning environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to think logically through complex problems.
