Industrial Project Buyer - Temporary Replacement - North Shore Introduction I’m Frédérique Tahon, Recruitment Director at FED Supply, specializing in recruitment for purchasing, logistics, and supply chain roles.
I’m currently hiring an Industrial Project Buyer for a company operating in the heavy industrial manufacturing sector, specialized in engineered-to-order systems.
This is an urgent temporary replacement, with strong potential for permanent conversion after approximately six months.
Mission Reporting to the Purchasing Director, you will play a key role in managing critical project-based procurement in an engineered-to-order environment with significant subcontracting.
You will be accountable for cost, lead time, and supplier risk performance throughout the lifecycle of complex industrial projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Participating in early-stage Make or Buy decisions
Sourcing and qualifying suppliers and subcontractors
Managing RFQs and placing orders for major components
Negotiating pricing, payment terms, contractual clauses, and delivery conditions
Managing orders from issuance through invoicing
Ensuring contractual compliance and supplier performance
Coordinating external manufacturing activities
Maintaining procurement data within the ERP system
Generating and analyzing reports using Power BI
Identifying cost-reduction opportunities
Proactively managing supplier risks
Handling disputes and claims
Occasional international travel
Your profile We are looking for a buyer experienced in technical industrial procurement within project-driven environments.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial purchasing or project procurement
Experience in engineered-to-order environments
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Strong knowledge of steel, mechanical parts, and electromechanical equipment
Experience managing subcontracted manufacturing
ERP system proficiency (required)
Power BI knowledge (asset)
Strong negotiation and contract analysis skills
Ability to handle urgent priorities and complex project timelines
Fluent French and English required
Willingness to undergo background checks
North Shore proximity is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
Immediate temporary mandate with permanent conversion option (~1,040 hours)
Market permanent salary range: $70,000-$90,000
Flexible schedule
Hybrid work model (up to 50% remote)
Large-scale engineered industrial projects
