During a one-year term at the Cenovus Minnedosa Ethanol Plant, the mechanical engineering student will play a key role in supporting plant operations through hands-on involvement in small-scale engineering projects, Management of Change (MOC) processes, and maintenance initiatives. The experience will provide exposure to industrial systems, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

What you’ll do
Process Troubleshooting. Work with the team to identify and solve process inefficiencies, equipment failures and bottlenecks.
Complete technical reports, data collection, drawing markups and calculations.
Utilize project management skills to execute projects.
Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Manage and prioritize multiple projects throughout the work term.
Utilize programs such as Microsoft Office, SAP, Adobe, Bluebeam, AutoCAD?
Utilize AI /machine learning techniques to analyze and interpret data.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)
Available to begin work in May 2026
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, high-performing, team environment
Flexible to changing work demands and ability to prioritize
Innovative, with a strong desire to learn and the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes or solutions
Demonstrates collaboration by actively seeking out diverse people and organizations to collectively achieve business goals
Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Understanding of key safety principles and demonstrated safety leadership

Education
Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term
Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
Working Conditions
May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.
Safety Sensitive
This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
