Location: National Capital Region (Almonte)
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board for the following position:
Casual PROGRAM ASSISTANT (Toddler and Preschool Early Learning Centres)
Woodroffe HS, Queen Elizabeth PS, and Shingwàkons PS Sites
DUTIES:
Working under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Program Assistant assists in the provision of childcare to toddler and preschool children; enhancing child-based play; encouraging and guiding, and modeling appropriate behaviour techniques. Performs other duties as directed to support the overall objectives and goals of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND
EDUCATION:
Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures ; understanding of early childhood development and of the goals and objectives of the infant, toddler and preschool program. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with children, to understand their needs and differences and to encourage and motivate them. Good interpersonal skills to function effectively as a team member, and ability to follow instructions.
Interest in Early Childhood Education as a career or field of study is an asset.
These skills would normally be acquired through completion of a High School Diploma, and one (1) year experience providing childcare to children in a group setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C Certificate is required.
Police Record check for the Vulnerable Sector 6 months old or less is required for external applicants.
Proof of immunization to MMR, and Tdap is required.
