Location: Milverton

Corporation of Township of Perth East Business Co-op Summer Student (May 11 – August 28, 2026) (Full time, Contract position) Job N-04-2026 Reporting to the Manager of Legislative Services/Municipal Clerk and the Manager of Financial Services/Treasurer, the Co-op student will be responsible for assisting with both Finance and Clerical duties.

This role will play an integral support in providing administrative assistance to all departments within the Township.

Core Responsibilities:

Provide reception services for the Municipality at the counter, by telephone, through email, and through the Municipal website Answer questions and provide information to taxpayers, customers, and general public relating to taxation, accounts receivable and other finance department or municipal services Provide general customer service support for the Township Office Front Reception including duties such as: distributing incoming mail and delivering outgoing mail to the post office as well as scheduling courier pick-ups Provide accounting support and services related to the Finance Department Issue and complete service requests for new customer connections and disconnections, meter issues and customer service needs Balance and process nightly bank deposits of counter receipts Prepare various account reconciliations and related journal entries as needed Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, applicable legislation regulations, statues and departmental policies, procedures, practices and operational guidelines, and perform safe work practices Perform support and back up to other staff within the Township as necessary Receive payments for dog licenses, taxes, water and wastewater, drains;

issue receipts and complete necessary record keeping Assist with special projects as required All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

University or College Co-op student studying the areas of Business, Accounting, Business Administration or other relevant program Priority given to candidates with demonstrated office experience Experience working with the general public is an asset Strong communication (both written and verbal) required Highly developed interpersonal, public relations/customer service skills required Excellent computer skills and demonstrative ability to manage time effectively, manage multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines required Highly developed problem-solving and organizational skills are necessary The ability to exercise tact, discretion, confidentiality and diplomacy Willingness to learn, accept responsibility, demonstrate an initiative and a positive attitude Spreadsheet and Analytical skills

Working Conditions:

Considerable portion of work time is spent at a desk in an office; standing while at front counter may be required from time to time Moderate to strong mental attention and concentration required for all tasks.

May be privy to sensitive information; confidentiality is imperative Stress is a factor from extensive contact with public who have unpredictable behaviour via front reception and telephone.

Standing, Walking, Lifting file boxes to be expected Position Details:
Wage: $17.60/hour Hours of Work: 35 hours/week - Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m.
