Project Accountant

Location: Thornhill

We are looking for a dedicated Project Accountant to join our team in Thornhill, Ontario. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing financial aspects of various projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role requires collaboration with project managers and stakeholders to provide financial insights and support for project success.

Responsibilities:

• Handle project-related billing processes, including monthly progress billings, milestone-based invoicing, and fixed-fee arrangements.

• Collaborate with project managers to monitor costs, forecast budgets, and provide updates on financial progress.

• Manage work-in-progress accounts, ensuring accurate tracking and billing based on project completion.

• Review and process external subcontractor invoices, general expenses, and travel costs related to projects.

• Utilize accounting software systems such as Deltek and Oracle to manage project financials and ensure seamless transitions.

• Maintain accurate records of labour costs, external invoices, and software purchases for client projects.

• Support cash flow management, including negotiating upfront payments and tracking project-specific financial milestones.

• Partner with project managers to understand deliverables, flag potential overruns, and provide actionable financial insights.

• Assist in managing a high volume of small-scale projects, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Contribute to system improvements and workflows during transitions to new accounting platforms.
