Discovery Community Church is looking to fill a full time Associate Pastor position to work alongside our current pastoral team in equipping our congregation to grow as disciples who make disciples. We are interested in finding the right person who demonstrates godly character and fits with the chemistry of the pastoral team and church congregation.
We are looking for a person with integrity who is humble and teachable. They must have a drive to equip the saints for ministry, kingdom-focused with a passion for discipleship and the heart of Christ for the marginalized.
Reporting to the Lead Pastor, the Associate Pastor is responsible for championing the discipleship ministries and outreach ministries at Discovery as well as oversee Volunteer Management, including recruitment, training, encouraging, supporting, evaluating and celebrating our volunteers. The Associate Pastor will work in close collaboration with the Lead Pastor and other Pastoral Staff to move the mission, vision, core values and ministry action plan (MAP) of Discovery forward.
We are looking for a ‘jack of all trades’ pastor who will oversee these ministries and will also assist the Lead Pastor in other duties including preaching approx. 10 times a year.

AccountabilityThe Associate Pastor is overseen by and reports directly to the Lead Pastor and is ultimately accountable to the congregation through the Leadership Team.
Compensation$60,000+/year based on education and experience. Benefits and vacation time, as well as yearly salary in accordance with the BCMB salary guidelines.
Responsibilities Discipleship Ministry- In collaboration with the Lead Pastor, discern a discipleship pathway for Discovery that helps people move from unbeliever to fully devoted follower of Jesus.
- Oversee discipleship ministries
- Equip Life Group hosts through recruitment, training, support and encouragement.
- Discern what other discipleship ministries are important for our community and implement as able.
- Work with the First Impressions Team to create a system for Connect Cards, and be the primary contact for adult visitors.
- Support the Lead Pastor in pastoral care needs that arise from the congregation and community.
- Oversee outreach ministries such as Walk of Compassion, Alpha, Community BBQ’s, Church at the Park, Outreach Dinners, etc.
- In collaboration with the Lead Pastor, support walk-in pastoral care, benevolent support and food support as able.
- Create a system to ensure regulars are serving at least once a month, in an area they thrive in, and that newcomers have opportunities to serve as a means of discipleship.
- Oversee, recruit, equip, train and support volunteers involved in the weekly ministry.
- Ensure that all volunteer roles are filled through large group and online promotion as well as one on one conversations, working with Ministry Team leaders for scheduling of volunteers.
- Oversee the Plan to Protect policy
- Manage the scheduling and management of volunteers.
- Preach approximately 10 times a year.
- Assist the Pastoral Team in other projects/duties as skills and time allow.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and a Discipleship/Mentorship program facilitated by the Lead Pastor.
- Complete the credentialing process within the BCMB within the first two years of employment.

- Deep commitment to Jesus Christ and in essential agreement with MB statement of faith
- Passion for working with all types of people and desire to see God continue to transform lives.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated and accepting of accountability and constructive criticism
- Good administrative, communication and leadership skills
- Able to work effectively both in team situations and independently
- Able to work well with adult volunteers
