Job Description Summary
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.
Responsibilities- Provide administrative coverage at the front desk of the clinic, including monitoring the clinic appointment line, scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, correction systems, answering multiline telephones, taking payments for clinical services, completing client registrations, documentation, scheduling interpreters for clients, and retrieving billing charges.
- Provide continuous and efficient operations of the physician medical office, including scheduling, patient registration, telephone triage, medical records, billing and collections, and coordinating daily clinic preparation, patient identification, check in/out, charge posting, cash management, and appointment scheduling. Provide customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation, and referrals management.
- High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of patient care experience in a health care facility; or a Certified Nursing Assistant; or successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution or equivalent training; or EMT or Paramedic certification; or a Bachelor’s degree.

- Ability to perform job functions while standing and sitting; walking; climbing stairs; working from elevated areas; working in confined/cramped spaces; kneeling; bending and twisting; squatting; gross and fine motor movements of fingers and hands; firm grasping; reaching overhead; repetitive motions of hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders; use of lower extremities for balance and coordination; lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs unassisted; lifting/lowering objects up to 50 lbs from floor to 36 inches;
lifting to overhead up to 25 lbs; exerting up to 50 lbs of force for patient transfers with assistance as needed; vision requirements (20/40, color discrimination, depth perception); hearing; ability to work under stress; rotating shifts; overtime as required; ability to work in a latex-safe environment; tactile sensory function; ability to maintain olfactory sensory function; ability to qualify physically for respirator use as required.
