Job Description Summary
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi‑skilled activities to support a decentralized patient‑centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.

Job DescriptionThis is a float pool position that will require traveling to different locations with flexibility.
Midland locations: Columbia, Kershaw, Elgin, Blythewood, Lugoff, Lexington, Camden and areas in between.
The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Responsibilities include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), recording or inputting information to patient medical records, and preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations.
Basic computer skills required. Annual competencies must be maintained. Must understand and implement detailed instructions in therapeutic procedures and make accurate physical observations of patients. Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Education and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
- Certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), MedCA, National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required: certification from AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
