Job Description

As a Senior Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for developing and executing maintenance strategies for a variety of underground mining equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This includes:

  • Drilling Equipment (Jumbo and Long Hole)
  • Ancillary Equipment

Your goal is to ensure planned maintenance and component replacements meet performance targets such as equipment availability and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF).

Key Tasks and Responsibilities Planning & Scheduling
  • Schedule and plan routine maintenance in collaboration with Production and Maintenance teams.
  • Track component age and condition using the Pronto

    CMMS.
  • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BoMs).
Maintenance Strategy & Execution
  • Maintain accurate routine maintenance data in Pronto.
  • Create and manage work orders and requisitions.
  • Expedite parts and labor as needed.
Budgeting & Cost Control
  • Assist in developing the annual budget using Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB).
  • Provide cost and component updates for budget reforecasting.
Reporting & Analysis
  • Report monthly on key performance indicators: availability, MTBF, component usage, and cost.
  • Analyze historical data to support lifecycle planning and budgeting.
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with company and government policies.
  • Provide input and adhere to the Oceana Asset Management Framework (AMF).
Qualifications

Required

  • 5 – 10 years of maintenance experience (preferably in mining).
  • 2 + years of experience in computer-based planning/scheduling.
  • Technical qualification in Engineering or Asset Management (highly regarded).

Preferred

  • Direct experience with underground mining equipment, especially Sandvik, Normet and Caterpillar.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Pronto, and Xeras (or similar ZBB tools).
  • Familiarity with planning tools such as Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), BoMs, and workpacks.
