Position: Laboratory Technician I

The Coriell Institute for Medical Research is hiring for Laboratory Technician I positions for both our Molecular Biology and Cell Culture lab teams, within the Production Lab environment. Key qualifications for this role include a strong background in laboratory, performing routine laboratory experiments, with a focus on sample preparation, data documentation, and equipment upkeep. Specific duties may include call culture using aseptic techniques or DNA extraction and processing.

Essential characteristics are a critical attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests and data entry, as well as a solid familiarity with safety regulations and laboratory best practices. The successful candidate must also possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.

This individual should be able to learn how to independently handle experiments or small research projects, requiring knowledge and experience in a specific scientific area or discipline.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities
  • Prepare laboratory samples and specimens.
  • Conduct routine and specialized tests and experiments.
  • Perform laboratory assays and analysis using various equipment and instruments within the laboratory.
  • Analyze and record data.
  • Ensure laboratory safety by following established protocols and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and order replacements as needed.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Cell/molecular biology, or relevant scientific field that included laboratory training and curriculum.

Experience

0-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of academic experience is required.

Technical proficiency in laboratory equipment and procedures, meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Ability to stand, sit, kneel, stoop, or bend over for prolonged periods of time in a lab environment and with PPE being worn.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Salary & Compensation

The starting wage for this role starts at $22.00; however, the final salary will be commensurate with experience.

This role will be eligible to participate in Coriell's Health & Welfare benefits, receive an employer-paid Long-term disability plan and Basic Life Insurance Policy, and will be enrolled in a 401(a) plan that receives a 7% monthly employer contribution (Base Salary). The role receives an annual allotment of 20 days of PTO, 7 paid sick days, and up to 10+ paid holidays.
