Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN with a strong cardiac background, valid NJ or compact license, and the ability to float among multiple hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital setting

• Assignment may require floating between five hospitals within skillset based on need

• Nurses will float to ICU for PCU patients downgraded from higher acuity

• Patient ratio is typically 1:4, and 1:5+ when floated to PCU

• Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)

• Block scheduling is not permitted

• Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required

• EPIC EMR experience is preferred

• Travelers expected to monitor telemetry

• Travelers may be floated throughout 5 different hospitals based on staffing needs

• No block scheduling permitted and RTO (time off) must be submitted upfront

• First-time travelers accepted but not preferred

• Travelers living within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a lower rate

• Traveler will be fit tested prior to working on the unit and must be clean shaven

• Modules will be completed during orientation and are recorded via transcripts

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license in hand (pending licenses not accepted)

• Minimum of 2 years recent PCU nursing experience with a strong cardiac background

• ACLS and BLS certifications required at time of consideration and cannot expire within 30 days of assignment start

• Must pass a Dysrhythmia Test within 72 hours of signing, taken on a PC—only two attempts allowed

• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required with no exemptions

• Must complete all required labs within 48 hours of signing

• Experience with in the specialty must be within the last 12 months

• EPIC EMR experience preferred
