OverviewThe Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is where patients come to recovery from a surgical procedure. PACU is located on the third floor of the Pavilion and Kelemen building, with an area on Pavilion
2. Patients here can often be sent home following the procedure or admitted to the hospital, depending on the procedure and required recovery. If admitted, the patient is transferred to the appropriate floor for continued recovery and discharge. The PACU serves patients from infancy to geriatics. Here patients are closely monitored as they wake up from the anesthesia; discharge home or hospital admission follows physician orders.
