Description:

Provides advanced clinical education and operational management of research protocols by evaluating potential new clinical trial opportunities, coordinating with clinical areas and educating team members, planning for and performing care of research patients on clinical trials, and managing oncology research nurse navigators.

• Evaluate the feasibility of new clinical trial opportunities by reviewing research protocols against operational capabilities.
• Coordinate care for patients newly enrolled on a clinical trial by educating Pharmacy, Infusion, Pathology, Radiology, and other service areas.
• Lead operational planning for new clinical trials and educate the involved service areas.
• Manage the Oncology Research Nurse Navigators within the Research Department.
• Provide clinical education on research studies to clinical staff including CPNs, RNs, and Inpatient teams.
• Serve as a clinical resource to the Oncology Research Clinical Supervisor who manages Clinical Research Coordinators and Data Management team members.
• Direct Oncology Research Nurse Navigators in assignments and tasks related to clinical management of research patients.
• Oversee efforts to identify patients who may be eligible for a clinical trial, including nurses and supporting technology.
• Maintain knowledge of research protocols and standard operating procedures to educate clinical teams as a Research resource.
• Provide direct patient care for research purposes, including Epic documentation of study-related visits.

  Oncology nursing experience required; nursing degree with Bachelor’s required
