We are seeking an experienced General Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team this critical role, you will provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced operating room environment, ensuring patient safety, coordinating perioperative care, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This position requires a commitment to excellence in trauma and surgical nursing, with a focus on Level 1 trauma cases.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the operating room, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative handoff.
- Assist in surgical procedures, ensuring sterile technique and adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs, administer medications, and respond to emergencies during surgery.
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other OR staff to facilitate efficient workflow and patient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, including surgical records and quality monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills in managing OR schedules, equipment, and resources.
- Active New Jersey (NJ) RN license required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional OR nursing experience.
- Level 1 trauma experience required.
- Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required. - Excellent attention to detail for ensuring patient safety and quality monitoring.
- Strong organizational skills for coordinating care across the OR.
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment and make quick, critical decisions.
- Commitment to teamwork, patient advocacy, and continuous professional development.
- Shift : 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM (11a-11p).
- Holiday Requirements : 1 summer holiday and 1 fall/winter holiday. If off on the holiday, must work the day before or the day after. Must also work one evening shift and one day shift. Additionally, must work a winter hallmark and spring hallmark event.
