Floating Social Service Coordinator
Department: Impact and Service Delivery
Reports to: Senior Associate Director/Regional Associate Director
Hours: 35 hours per week
Schedule: 9:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday
Pay: $24.00-$25.00 per hour
Job SummaryThe Floating (Traveling) Social Service Coordinator facilitates and coordinates services that enhance the quality of life for residents of affordable housing communities and neighboring community members across multiple sites. This role supports an environment that promotes cultural appreciation, diversity, resident engagement, and safe, positive living environments. The Coordinator implements programs and services designed to prevent and reduce vandalism, crime, and illegal activity while promoting Better Tomorrows’ five core focus areas:
Health, Wellness and Nutrition;
Academic Support;
Financial Literacy;
Job Readiness; and Social and Community Engagement. This position is a traveling role, providing coverage, program implementation, and resident support at multiple sites throughout New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia area based on organizational and community needs.
- Facilitate and/or coordinate programs, activities, and social services for children and adults across assigned sites using community resources and partner agencies, including:
- Out-of-School Time Programs (After-School and Summer Programs) utilizing Better Tomorrows curriculum or coordinating partnerships with community agencies (family sites)
- GED preparation and resident education programs focused on academic achievement and engagement
- Job readiness and financial literacy programs to promote economic stability and self-sufficiency, including résumé support and computer/technical skills training
- Health and wellness programs and workshops that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being
- Social and community engagement activities such as neighborhood watch initiatives, holiday events, and other programs that strengthen community safety and cohesion
- Additional programs and services based on site needs, compliance requirements, and community demographics
- Travel between multiple sites to provide direct services, program support, coverage, and technical assistance as assigned
- Engage, develop, and maintain community partnerships and volunteers to support programming across sites
- Lead and coordinate on-site food distribution programs, including food banks, hot meals, and food donation initiatives
- Create individualized service plans with residents, support goal achievement, and monitor progress, including conducting wellness checks
- Develop, maintain, and utilize community resource files and provide referrals with appropriate follow-up
- Utilize data management systems daily to track case management progress, demographic data, and monthly program attendance
- Publish and distribute monthly community newsletters and calendars to residents at assigned sites
- Assist with limited fund development efforts to supplement programming through grants, donations, and partnerships
- Provide excellent customer service to partner property management companies, including assisting residents with lease compliance and healthy homes referrals
- Manage, track, and utilize site budgets in accordance with Better Tomorrows’ financial procedures
- Provide technical assistance and support to resident associations
- Support volunteer engagement and community outreach efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned by Better Tomorrows management
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced project planning, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently while managing responsibilities across multiple sites
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in social service delivery
- High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, or a related field preferred
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and/or weekends to accommodate resident and program needs
- Attendance at mandatory trainings and conferences, which may require overnight travel with advance notice
- Ability to travel regularly within New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia area; mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with IRS guidelines
