Two-sided, seventy-six bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit (Kelemen North and South
9). The unit cares for a variety of patient populations, including cardiac, trauma, gastrointestinal, and psych. Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) support workflow, patient care, and assignments. Nurses on Kelemen 9 are required to have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications to ensure competent and safe care for our complex patient population.
- Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assist with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care.
- Communicate with and support the healthcare team, patients, and/or patient family or significant other(s).
- Maintain and demonstrate high standards of professional ethics.
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, mobility, and transport; demonstrate standard precautions including care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice.
- Perform technical duties as directed by RN (e.g., phlebotomy, vital signs, point-of-care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care specific to population served) and document appropriately.
- Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the RN and respond appropriately; practice standard precautions and isolation safety.
- Reinforce education of patients and families regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
- Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities; assist in the orientation of new hires.
- Complete annual unit-specific competencies by the specified due date.
- Attend staff meetings when available for review of documents and minutes.
- Assist in admission, transfers, and discharges of patients to and from the unit.
0-2 years’ experience required.
Education RequirementsHigh School/GED required.
License/Certification Requirements- AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
- At least one of the following qualifications/certifications must be met for hire:
- Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers
- Successful phlebotomy/EKG competency must be completed during orientation
- 7PM-7AM
- 4 shifts every 6 weeks
- 3 weekend shifts, 1 weekday
- 1 major winter, 1 major summer, and 1 hallmark holiday
