Mental Health Technician – Psychiatric Unit Responsibilities
- Assist the Registered Nurse in providing direct, indirect, and non‑patient care responsibilities.
- Contribute to quality patient care as part of the multidisciplinary treatment team by providing therapeutic groups, activities, milieu counseling, and management.
- Perform patient care observation rounds (1:1 and environmental), monitor vital signs, control logs, glucose checks, specimen collections, treatment planning, patient education, visitor and meal monitoring, belongings and body checks, and document as needed.
- Use verbal de‑escalation techniques to manage disruptive patient behaviors, limit‑setting, and physical restraint application as directed, and serve as a member of the treatment team during psychiatric codes and Code Grey.
- Perform clerical functions to support the clinical operations of the unit.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a mental health, forensic, or addiction setting.
- Associate degree required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Psychology or a related field. - American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Full‑time nights, 36 hours a week.
- Flexible hours; 7 p‑7:30 a with weekend/holiday rotation.
