PATIENT SERVICES REP – Cooper University Health Care
Join us as a Patient Services Representative where you greet patients and guests using AIDET and deliver an individualized, excellent patient service experience. You will provide patient support, keep patients informed of delays, and offer alternatives as needed.
As a front‑desk professional you will:
- Perform all registration functions, including full registration, updating demographics, verifying insurance, obtaining signatures, and completing verification and authorization forms.
- Document patient outreach for messages received in the front‑desk pool, MyChart messaging, and confirmation calls.
- Utilize kiosks, tablets, and other technology to assist patients upon arrival.
- Make appointments, including follow‑up appointments across the healthcare continuum (physician office visits, imaging, labs).
- Collect co‑pays and outstanding balances, reconcile the cash drawer daily, and maintain accurate cash handling.
- Perform non‑clinical administrative duties such as in‑basket and telephone communication, documentation in the medical record, and completion of insurance and/or disability forms.
- Comply with procedures for transcription of orders (radiology and/or scheduling).
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members, and uphold the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Adapt to a fast‑paced environment, multitask, and balance patient volume as needed.
Other duties may be assigned by the manager.
Experience Required- Minimum one year of recent registration or billing experience in a medical facility (preferred).
- Proficiency in patient registration, scheduling, medical insurance pre‑certifications, authorizations, and referrals (preferred).
- Epic experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated performance of excellent customer service skills.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
License/Certification RequirementsNAHAM Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification preferred.
Special RequirementsCustomer service‑oriented attitude, pleasant and poised demeanor, excellent phone etiquette, strong verbal and written communication skills, and computer proficiency.
