Position Summary

Rutgers University–Camden invites applications for a Learning Specialist in the Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS). The Learning Specialist will improve student retention and persistence by providing academic support, designing targeted interventions, and leveraging data to address students’ unique challenges. The role includes individualized and group coaching, skill-building sessions, assessment, curriculum maintenance in Canvas, and development of innovative learning resources.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct learning assessments and develop personalized learning plans for undergraduate students.
  • Maintain curriculum materials in the learning management system (Canvas).
  • Plan and deliver in‑person and virtual programming, creating effective digital and multimedia learning resources.
  • Develop and coordinate academic support services throughout the year, including summer and winter sessions.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to design and implement evidence‑based support interventions.
  • Collect and analyze data on academic performance, retention, and student feedback to demonstrate impact and guide continuous improvement.
  • Participate in outreach activities such as resource fairs, orientation programs, and student success initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and confidentiality policies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education
    :
    Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, education, humanities, or a related field.
  • Experience
    :
    At least two years delivering academic learning support for undergraduate students in a university setting, or experience managing a collegiate learning center.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    :
    • Working knowledge of instructional design theory and adult learning principles.
    • Experience designing and applying assessment strategies to evaluate learning effectiveness.
    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to process and analyze complex information and communicate findings to students, parents, and administrators.
    • Experience with training, public speaking, and/or conducting presentations.
    • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and relationship‑building skills.
    • Proficiency with MS Office, internet, tutoring software, databases, student information systems, and tools such as EAB and Qualtrics.
    • Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours in addition to the standard workweek.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    :
    • Minimum of one year experience developing digital and multimedia content and facilitating educational workshops.
    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement virtual learning experiences and asynchronous resources for student development.
    • Experience with social media tools to communicate with students and tutors.

  • Salary:
    Starting salary commensurate with qualifications; range $68,278 – $100,509
  • Working Hours:

    37.5 hours per week; potential hybrid work arrangement in accordance with Policy 60.3.22 (pilot program through August 31 2024)
