Posting Summary

Rutgers University‑Camden is hiring Early Childhood Teachers. These positions will report to the Assistant Director or Supervisor of the Early Learning Research Academy. The Early Childhood Teacher will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a classroom environment that effectively supports children’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development. This includes organizing space, materials, routines, and guidance techniques to foster a positive learning experience.

This position operates under the Early Learning Research Academy through a contract with the Camden Board of Education and is covered by the Abbott Early Childhood Program of the State of New Jersey.

Salary Details

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, within university policy and salary schedules, as well as departmental budgets.

Minimum Salary: 65,272.00

Mid Range Salary: 78,208.00

Maximum Salary: 91,936.00

Training & Certifications / Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have NJ P‑3 certification (standard or provisional)
  • Must successfully pass a state criminal background check
  • Must complete CPR training and certification
  • Must pass New Jersey Child Abuse Record Information
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mastery of immersion instruction techniques, with demonstrated skill in “sheltered” delivery and effective scaffolding of subject‑area content, particularly in bilingual or multilingual settings.
  • Extensive training and experience in balanced literacy approaches, early childhood development, and best practices in preschool education.
  • Strong understanding of child development theories and practical application of developmentally appropriate practices to support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to applicable safety procedures, health protocols, and emergency response practices to ensure a secure learning environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with children, families, colleagues, and community partners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
