Fall 2026 Opening

We are seeking a compassionate and engaging Special Education Teacher to work with High School students with mild to moderate learning disabilities. The teacher will be responsible for case‑management, inclusion, consultation, and supervising an Educational Technician.

• Provide specialized instruction in a resource room setting aligned with students’ IEP goals and grade‑level standards
• Implement and monitor IEP accommodations
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to ensure continuity of services
• Collect, analyze, and document student progress data to inform instruction
• Support students’ development of academic, organizational, and self‑advocacy skills
• Participate in IEP meetings
• Complete special education paperwork in accordance with state and federal regulations

• Possess knowledge of the diverse ways in which students learn and develop
• Ability to engage with students, home, school, colleagues, and the community to support student learning and wellbeing
• Adapt to student needs
• Communicate effectively
  
  Desire ongoing professional development and improvement
• Experience with co‑teaching language arts and/or math preferred

• Background check, including fingerprinting
• Maine Department of Education Certification 282 – Teacher of Children with Disabilities (7 – 12)

• Pay starts at $52,686 (step B –
  0) annually with possibility of increase based on experience, within the parameters of the applicable contract
