A welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Camden is seeking a Specialist SEMH Support Staff member to join their dedicated SEMH provision. This role involves delivering 1:1 or 1:2 targeted support to pupils across the primary age range, helping them to regulate emotions, access learning, and build positive relationships.
Responsibilities- Providing consistent 1:1 or 1:2 SEMH support within the specialist unit and across the school day.
- Using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches to promote emotional regulation and engagement.
- Supporting pupils to develop self-regulation skills through clear boundaries and predictable routines.
- Working closely with teachers, the SENCo, and external SEMH professionals to deliver individual support plans.
- Creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment where pupils feel understood and supported.
- Tracking progress, celebrating small successes, and adapting strategies as pupils’ needs evolve.
- Empathetic, resilient, and confident in supporting children with complex emotional needs.
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs, trauma, or attachment difficulties.
- A calm and consistent approach, particularly in emotionally challenging situations.
- Strong relationship-building skills and confidence using de-escalation strategies.
- Relevant qualifications or a strong academic background.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
