Job Description & How to Apply Below
Cambridge / North East Cambridge
£70,000 – £80,000 + Package
New build & refurbishment projects | £1m – £15m
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a long-established regional contractor with a reputation for delivering complex projects properly, not chasing volume for its own sake.
The business operates with a strong, secured pipeline across the Cambridge and North East Cambridgeshire area, underpinned by repeat clients and long-term frameworks. Projects are well planned, realistically resourced, and led by people who understand the realities of delivery.
For the right Project Manager, this offers long-term security, genuine autonomy, and the chance to take ownership of meaningful projects in a business where delivery quality and staff retention actually matter.
The Role
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of construction projects from pre-start through to completion, typically ranging from £1m to £15m across new build and refurbishment.
This is a hands-on leadership role, balancing programme control, commercial awareness, and site presence. You will work closely with senior site management, design teams and commercial colleagues, acting as the central point of coordination and decision-making.
The role suits a Project Manager who values structure, clarity and professionalism, and who wants to operate in an environment where projects are set up to succeed rather than firefighted.
Key Responsibilities
* Full project delivery from mobilisation through to handover
* Programme management and short-term planning, managing risk and sequencing trades effectively
* Commercial awareness, working closely with the surveying team to control costs and variations
* Leading site teams and supporting senior site management
* Acting as the key client interface, maintaining strong, professional relationships
* Ensuring high standards of quality, health and safety, and site presentation
* Accurate reporting and record-keeping throughout the project lifecycle
About You
* Proven experience delivering new build or refurbishment projects as a Project Manager
* Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively
* Calm, organised, and solutions-focused under pressure
* Excellent communication skills with clients and internal teams
* Solid understanding of programme, cost control, quality and health & safety
* SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
Benefits & Package
* Salary £70,000 – £80,000
* Car allowance
* Discretionary profit-related bonus
* Pension and life assurance
* Private healthcare
* Ongoing training and long-term career progression
* A stable business that genuinely looks after its people
