Creative Industries Media Technician - FE College
Full Time | Temporary (Approx. 10 weeks initially)

Time Plan Education are working with a further education college to recruit a Creative Industries Media Technician for a full-time temporary role, starting as soon as possible and expected to last for approximately 10 weeks in the first instance.
This role is ideal for a technically skilled media professional who is keen to work in an education-based environment, supporting learners and teaching staff across Creative Industries subjects including Media, Film, Broadcast, Radio, Animation and Esports.
The Role
As a Creative Industries Media Technician in an FE college setting, you will provide essential technical and practical support to lecturers and students. You will help ensure studios, workshops and specialist learning spaces are safe, well-maintained and fully resourced to support high-quality teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare equipment, resources and learning materials prior to teaching sessions
Provide technical support during lessons, including demonstrations where required
Supervise learners in studios and specialist resource areas
Maintain studios, workshops and specialist teaching spaces
Carry out first-line maintenance and basic repairs on media equipment
Manage stock control, equipment bookings and loan systems
Ensure health and safety procedures are followed, including risk assessments and COSHH
Support department events such as shows, exhibitions and open days
Provide cover across the Creative Industries department when required, including occasional evenings
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
A Level 3 qualification in Media or a related subject
Experience working with media equipment in an educational, training or industry setting
Strong knowledge of media technology, studio hardware and software
A good understanding of health and safety in studio-based environments
Strong organisational skills and a proactive, reliable approach
A genuine interest in supporting young people and adult learners in an FE environment
Desirable
Degree-level qualification in Media or relevant industry experience
Previous experience working in a school, college or training provider
Experience maintaining and repairing media equipment
Knowledge of digital media software and PC/Mac systems
Working Hours and Contract
Full time - 37 hours per week
Temporary assignment - approximately 10 weeks initially
May include occasional evening or weekend work
Safeguarding and DBS
This role is subject to safer recruitment checks. The successful candidate will hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS through Time Plan Education prior to starting work.
