Location: Histon

We are looking for a talented and experienced Urban Designer / Layout Designer to join our clients Design team in their Cambridge office.

This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a highly skilled team of designers and architects, contributing to a broad range of work including urban design and planning, feasibility studies, layout design, development briefs, and strategic frameworks. Our projects span residential and mixed-use schemes, along with a variety of other sectors, offering both challenge and variety.

The Role

You will play an integral part in shaping sustainable, well-considered places from early concept through to detailed design. The role involves:

  • Preparing masterplans and detailed layout designs
  • Supporting outline and reserved matters applications
  • Producing development briefs and design strategies
  • Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external consultants
  • Engaging confidently with clients and stakeholders
About You

We are seeking a motivated and creative professional who can demonstrate:

  • A relevant Undergraduate Degree, Master’s, or Diploma in Urban Design, Architecture, or a related Built Environment discipline
  • Experience with in private practice, consultancy, or a commercial house building environment
  • Experience in detailed design and Reserved Matters Applications (RMA)
  • Outline planning application experience
  • A strong understanding of the UK planning system, with the ability to interpret and respond to local authority design guidance
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Vectorworks and/or Sketch Up advantageous but not essential)
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Confidence in client liaison and relationship building
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and interdisciplinary skills
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and a keen eye for detail
