We are currently seeking an experienced Urban Designer or Layout Designer to join our expanding Design team in Cambridge. Whether you specialise in Master planning, Layout Design, Architecture, or Urban Design, we invite you to apply. We aim to appoint the most suitable candidate to collaborate on a diverse range of challenging projects spanning the UK. Our expert design teams excel in large-scale urban extensions, area regeneration strategies, renewable energy, and residential schemes, backed by a deep understanding of planning policies crucial for project success.
This role offers a compelling opportunity to collaborate with a talented group of designers and architectural designers. As part of our team, you will engage in urban design and planning tasks, conduct feasibility studies, layout designs and create drawing packages for planning applications predominantly for residential projects, among others. - Provide urban design and planning input on projects and collaborate on feasibility studies and layout designs.
- Create drawing packages for planning applications, predominantly for residential projects.
- Engage with stakeholders, liaise with clients and consultants to interpret design guidance and planning requirements.
- Contribute to master planning, area regeneration strategies, and other related urban design tasks.
- Hold a relevant Undergraduate Degree, Masters or Diploma in Urban Design / Architecture / Built Environment
- Work experience in private practice / consultancy or a commercial house building operation.
- Experience of detailed design/RMA
- Outline application experience
- A working knowledge of the planning system with an ability to interpret and adapt to specific local authority design guidance.
- Knowledge of CAD software packages. Experience in Vectorworks and/or Sketchup would be an advantage but not essential.
- Work independently liaising with other consultants.
- Confidence with liaising with clients, building relationships and understanding client requirements.
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and interdisciplinary skills.
- Self-motivated with an excellent eye for detail.
