A leading construction and fit-out service provider based in Cambridge is looking to strengthen their team with an experienced Estimator. This is a key position within the preconstruction and estimating team, working on office and lab fitout projects ranging from £100k to £8m across Cambridge, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Norwich and London.
As the Estimator you’ll be responsible for delivering a continuous flow of new business and identifying future opportunities in competitive tendering for construction fitout projects. You will be involved in tender reviews, take-offs, cost planning and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the best value.
As the Estimator you will have the following responsibilities:
* Pursue new business opportunities and manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
* Visit project sites, review bids/specifications and prepare quotations.
* Compile construction sequencing programmes and pricing for tender bids.
* Analyse risks, perform take-offs and conduct post-tender analysis.
* Negotiate material costs and produce detailed scopes of work.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:
* Proven experience in construction/fit-out estimating role.
* Strong understanding of construction processes and building regulations.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Competence in Microsoft Office; experience with Eque2 Evaluate and MS Project is desirable.
* The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines whilst managing multiple tenders.
* The ability to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise tenders.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
