Overview
The Employment Counselor position is located in Cambridge, MN and is full-time with a rotating shift. Some weekend and holiday shifts may apply. The role involves referring individuals to support services, providing career and related counseling, and building relationships with external partners such as Vocational Rehabilitation Services and School Districts. Duties include supporting individuals attending CBS/MSOCS vocational programs and assisting with career goals, skills assessment, and development of individual support plans.
Responsibilities- Refer individuals to support services and provide career and related counseling.
- Build relationships with external partners (e.g., Vocational Rehabilitation Services, School Districts, CBS/MSOCS Vocational Services).
- Support individuals in CBS/MSOCS vocational programs who face cognitive, emotional, and physical barriers.
- Assist with assessing career goals, skills, natural abilities; develop individual support plans and self-assessments.
- Identify potential employment and community engagement opportunities.
- Support and coordinate with community resources to aid client placement and advancement.
- 2 years of experience in providing career guidance, vocational counseling, job placement, or similar functions in a Social Work or Human Services setting.
- Knowledge of client assessment, case management, and placement techniques.
- Computer and math skills; effective human relations; excellent communication skills.
- Currently certified in Customized Employment.
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Social Service, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (will substitute for 1 year of required experience).
- Experience working with vocational services (5 years preferred).
- Demonstrated cultural responsiveness and ability to work with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
