We are an award winning, busy and established restaurant seeking a Morning Baking & Pastry Prep Cook to join our team. This is a hands-on role for someone who is organized, an early riser, reliable, and comfortable working independently.
Schedule
- Full-time morning position, typically starting around 6:00 AM
- The schedule begins with a fixed morning start time and becomes more flexible as skill and efficiency are demonstrated. After consistency is established, the role allows for self-directed start and end times.
- Prior baking experience required
- Prior pastry experience required
- Must be a self-starter able to work unsupervised from a prep list
- Comfortable with repetition, volume, and consistency
- Must be able to lift and handle bags of flour/sugar up to 50 lbs
- Able to stand for extended periods, work with ovens, mixers, and standard bakery equipment
- Must feel comfortable receiving and checking in deliveries (both food and liquor)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) encouraged but not required
- Hand-forming approximately 200 decorative bread rolls daily
- Producing Pullman loaves (approximately 2–10 per day, pending volume)
- Preparing bread pudding using leftover bread (approx 20-50 portions twice to three times a week)
- Making crème brûlée (approx 20-50 portions twice to three times a week
- Making cheese cakes (approx 4 – 5 cakes twice a week)
- Producing baked goods for brunch service once a week, including:
- Quickbreads
- Leavened donuts
- Pâte à choux
- Shortbread cookies
- Occasional prep of cut fruit for special events (e.g., chocolate fountains)
- New dessert prep as needed
- Creating accurate orders and maintaining pars for baking supplies and completed products
- Unlimited Wellness Leave

- Monthly predictive scheduling
- 50% parking rate at local garages (usually 425 a month, we cover ½)
- Kitchen shoe allowance $100/year
- Detail-oriented and consistent
- Comfortable working early mornings
- Takes pride in clean, well-executed prep
- Reliable and able to manage time independently
- Able to read BEOs and prep-lists with minimal assistance
- Able to check accuracy of deliveries both food and liquor
- Serve Safe certified (or willing to be)
- Allergen Awareness Certified
