Post-Doctoral Associate in Hydrogen​/Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry

Overview

The Proteomics Group at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is a world-renowned leader in biological mass spectrometry. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Associate to spearhead cutting-edge projects in nanoflow hydrogen/deuterium exchange-mass spectrometry (nHDX-MS). This role offers a unique opportunity to lead high-impact collaborative research at the intersection of cancer biology, epigenetics, and chemical biology. You will work alongside a premier network of scientists from Broad, MIT, Harvard, and Harvard-affiliated hospitals, contributing to a global standard in MS-based proteomics.

Waterbury et al., Mol Cell 2024.

• Apply automated nHDX-MS workflows to characterize protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions, including epitope mapping.
• Identify binding sites for drugs and metabolites within complex mixtures.
• Develop methods for the successful interrogation of challenging targets, including membrane proteins, transcription factors, and large macromolecular assemblies.
• Advance the analytical capabilities of nHDX-MS by leveraging Electron Transfer Dissociation (ETD) to enable single-residue resolution.

• A Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry or a closely related field; a fundamental understanding of molecular biology is highly desired.
• A proven track record of scientific excellence, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Meticulous attention to detail, strong critical thinking abilities and exceptional organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• HDX-MS:
  Hands-on experience in sample preparation, data generation, and data interpretation
• Proteomics:
  Expertise in state-of-the-art MS-based proteomics, including XL-MS or FPOP
• Proficiency with LEAP or similar liquid handling automation platforms
• Experience analyzing large-scale datasets; proficiency in programming (R or Python)
