The Maternity Suite at Cambridge Hospital includes a 7‑bed labor unit with 3 triage bays and 2 operating rooms, plus a Postpartum Unit with 12 private rooms and a level 1b continuing‑care nursery. Care is provided for mothers and infants from birth through the early postpartum period to discharge, fostering a culturally sensitive approach to bonding and couplet care.
Responsibilities- Provide ongoing assessment and care of the mother during postpartum periods, following established guidelines.
- Provide ongoing assessment and care of the newborn according to established guidelines.
- Deliver education to the maternal‑newborn dyad from birth to discharge.
- Orchestrate and coordinate discharge planning and follow‑up care for mother and newborn.
- Participate in ongoing maternal‑newborn unit‑based quality initiatives.
- Maintain clinical practice in accordance with AWHONN, ACOG, NRP, and AAP established guidelines.
- Successfully complete maternal‑newborn unit competency programs as required.
- BSN preferred.
- Current MA RN Licensure.
- Current AHA BLS or ARC BLS required; NRP required prior to completion of unit orientation.
- Current mother‑baby/nursery experience required;
Level 1B nursery experience strongly preferred.
