Refrigeration Technical Supervisor; Artico

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of all ammonia refrigeration systems within Artico Cold Chain facilities. This includes managing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of ammonia equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements, and implementing effective preventive maintenance programs. The Refrigeration Technical Supervisor will also lead a team of technicians, provide training and support, and facilitate communication between departments to ensure seamless warehouse operations while maintaining optimal performance and safety in ammonia handling and usage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Property Management Engineer and Manager in developing Refrigeration Facilities improvement.
• Manage the Refrigeration Equipment, Monitoring and Compliance.
• Conduct repair and troubleshooting on systems and other mechanical repairs.
• Observe and monitor ammonia plant refrigeration system operations.
• Ensure implementation of the Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS) and other preventive measures based on the PM Plan.
• Maintain the target temperature requirements of the cold storage rooms.
• Adjust or replace worn-out or defective mechanisms and parts for repairs.
• Read refrigeration references such as blueprints and manuals to determine needed information for specific tasks.
• Supervise and instruct subordinates in best practices for equipment operation and maintenance.
• Conduct minor electrical repairs in refrigeration processes.
• Perform mechanical overhauling as needed to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Conduct piping repair and installation, as required, to maintain system integrity.
• Uphold the refrigeration equipment to maintain good working condition and efficiency.
• Capable of ammonia leak detection and isolation following safety protocols.
• Secure proper documentation of maintenance activities and equipment compliance.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and promote good housekeeping practices within the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Licensed Mechanical Engineer.
• At least 3 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration systems and related maintenance operations.
• Sound knowledge of refrigeration principles, safety regulations, and emergency procedures related to ammonia systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage various mechanical and electrical repair tasks.
• Willing to work weekends, public holidays, and be on-call as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Additional certifications in ammonia refrigeration or related fields.
• Experience with refrigeration monitoring systems and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards for refrigeration systems.
