Junior Custodian, Tobin Montessori/Vassal Lane Upper Schools

Position:
Junior Custodian (40 hour/12 month) – Facilities Department/Tobin Montessori/Vassal Lane Upper School.

General Statement of Duties:
The Junior Custodian reports to the Senior Building Custodian and is responsible for cleaning and sanitary maintenance of the building, care of the school grounds, and related work as required. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing; making minor repairs and adjustments.
• Cleaning floors (wood, concrete, vinyl tile), walls (plaster, wood, cinder block), windows, light fixtures, toilets, wash bowls, furnishings, and equipment.
• Using hand tools and large cleaning equipment such as vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishes, floor washing machines.
• Replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles using ladders, lifts, scaffolds.
• Maintaining school grounds: litter pickup, walk sweeping, snow removal, raking, mowing, watering grass using hand and power mowers, snow blowers, shovels.
• Inspecting building to determine maintenance needs and submitting work orders.
• Checking deliveries of fuel.
• Displaying the flag of the United States according to custom.
• Eliminating fire hazards and preventing accidents.

Terms of Employment: 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Occasional work outside scheduled hours and weekends may be required.

Salary:
According to Local 1611 AFSCME contract.
