Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and service-oriented IT Leader to build and maintain a
secure, scalable, and high-performing technology environment that supports both
scientific innovation and business operations.
In a fast-paced biotech environment, strong IT leadership is essential for enabling
cutting-edge research while ensuring reliable infrastructure, strong cybersecurity, and

• Own and manage the company’s IT infrastructure, including networks, endpoints, cloud systems, and lab-adjacent computing environments.
• Ensure reliable and secure operation of cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure/AWS), identity management, file storage, and collaboration tools.
• Manage network infrastructure, Wi‑Fi, VPN access, and device lifecycle for office and remote users.
• Partner with lab teams to support scientific computing needs, instrument connectivity, and research data storage where applicable.

• Deliver responsive IT support for approximately 90 employees, ensuring minimal downtime and strong service quality.
• Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including account provisioning, device deployment, and access management.
• Standardize and document IT processes to improve efficiency and user experience.

• Maintain and improve the company’s cybersecurity posture, including endpoint security, vulnerability management, and access controls.
• Support compliance initiatives relevant to biotech environments (e.g., SOC2 readiness, data governance, vendor risk management).
• Manage security tools such as EDR, MFA, email security, and device management platforms.

• Manage relationships with MSPs, cloud vendors, and IT service providers.
• Evaluate and implement technology solutions that scale with company growth.
• Oversee budgeting and purchasing for IT hardware, software, and services.

• Develop and execute an IT roadmap aligned with company growth and scientific needs.
• Lead initiatives related to infrastructure scalability, security maturity, and digital workplace improvements.
• Serve as a trusted technology partner to leadership and department heads.

• 6–10+ years of IT experience, including experience managing IT operations.
• Experience supporting small to mid-size companies (50–200 employees).
• Strong hands‑on expertise with:
  • Microsoft 365 / Entra  (Azure AD)
  • Endpoint management (Intune, Jamf, or similar)
  • Networking and Wi‑Fi infrastructure
  • Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Security tools and best practices
• Experience managing IT vendors or MSP relationships.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong customer‑service mindset.

• Experience in biotech, life sciences, or research environments.
• Familiarity with:
  • Scientific computing
  • Lab instrumentation connectivity
  • Research data storage environments
• Experience supporting GxP environments or other regulated systems.
• Experience implementing SOC2 or similar security frameworks.

• Hybrid role requiring at least three days per week on‑site in Cambridge to support office and lab environments.

Base Compensation Range: $158,000 – $175,000
