Role OverviewOsprey Life Sciences is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager – ELN & Lab Systems to lead the delivery of Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and laboratory technology initiatives within a regulated life sciences environment. This role is hands‑on and delivery‑focused, supporting the implementation, enhancement, and integration of ELN platforms that underpin scientific workflows, data integrity, and compliance.
The ideal candidate brings direct lab‑facing experience, a strong understanding of how scientists work day‑to‑day, and a proven track record delivering ELN implementations (e.g., Benchling, Sapio, or similar platforms). Success in this role requires comfort working across R&D, IT, Quality, and external vendors to translate scientific needs into scalable, compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of ELN and laboratory systems initiatives from initiation through deployment and closeout.
- Manage ELN platform implementations, upgrades, and enhancements (e.g., Benchling, Sapio, or comparable ELN solutions).
- Partner with scientific, R&D, and lab stakeholders to understand workflows, protocols, data capture needs, and adoption challenges.
- Define project scope, objectives, success criteria, timelines, budgets, and resource plans in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.
- Coordinate ELN integrations with related systems such as LIMS, SDMS, data platforms, IAM/SSO, and analytics tools.
- Ensure project execution aligns with PMO standards, governance processes, and compliance requirements.
- Support validation and documentation activities as required (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11), partnering with Quality and IT Compliance teams.
- Maintain project artifacts including project plans, RAID logs, status reporting, and change management documentation.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to data integrity, system performance, user adoption, and regulatory readiness.
- Serve as a key liaison between lab users, IT teams, Quality, and third‑party vendors to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Manage vendor delivery, scope, timelines, and dependencies to ensure solutions meet functional and compliance expectations.
- Facilitate workshops, design sessions, and working groups with scientists and technical teams to drive requirements clarity and buy‑in.
- Support organizational change management, training coordination, and communications to promote ELN adoption.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in ELN delivery practices, templates, and standards.
- Participate in post‑implementation reviews and lessons learned to improve future lab system implementations.
- Support the broader PMO by applying consistent project management methodologies and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Hands‑on experience delivering ELN implementations in a laboratory or R&D environment.
- Working experience with Benchling, Sapio, or similar ELN platforms strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with scientists, lab operations, and R&D stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage complex IT projects with multiple stakeholders and vendors.
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, scientific data capture, and system integrations.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance‑driven environments (life sciences, biotech, pharma, healthcare).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with LIMS, SDMS, or lab instrument integrations.
- Familiarity with validation concepts (CSV, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11).
- PMP or other project management certification preferred.
