Senior Quality Improvement Data Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior QI (Quality Improvement) Data Analyst collaborates with the Director of Clinical Analytics/Manager of Hospital Performance Analytics to ensure the accessibility, understanding, and active use of data necessary to enhance the quality of care, patient safety, service, and related outcomes throughout BMC. The Senior QI Data Analyst provides in-house content expertise in informatics and statistical/epidemiological analysis, as well as limited project management support.

The Senior QI Data Analyst is a customer service‑oriented position that serves the analytics needs of clinicians, administrators, and staff throughout BMC.

• Serves the data and information needs of a wide variety of customers, including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, administrators, and a wide variety of non‑technical staff throughout

• Works closely with the BMC Data Hub team to extract data using SQL tools

• Performs as an expert user of the Vizient Clinical Database to acquire data needed to support customers throughout BMC

• Integrates data from BMC Data Hub, Vizient Clinical Database, and other sources as needed

• Prepares graphical reports for a wide variety of customers throughout BMC in a manner that meets the needs of end‑users

• Meets with customers throughout BMC, including administrators, clinicians, and staff, to understand data/information needed to manage the clinical enterprise and facilitate quality improvement activities

• Provides data and information to customers in a readily accessible, understandable, and actionable manner using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, and other tools as needed

• Serves on quality improvement teams to support data and information needs of high‑priority quality improvement projects.

• Supports the development, updating, and distribution of quality and patient safety dashboards and other standard reports

• Promotes continual improvement in data visualization and reporting processes

• Trains the end‑user community in the pragmatic interpretation of statistics, such as statistical process control

• Provides guidance to lower‑level analysts and aids the Director of Clinical Analytics/Manager of Hospital Performance Analytics in project management

• Performs other duties as assigned and/or necessary.

• Bachelor's degree required

• Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline, preferred

• Minimum 4 years of experience working with large data sets in a position focused on the delivery of numerical data to a wide variety of customers.

• Experience in health care strongly preferred.

• Experience conducting advanced analytics using SQL

• Intermediate to advanced experience in developing dashboards using Tableau.
