Marengo Therapeutics is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Senior Director of Business Development to lead partnering and capital-oriented initiatives that support the advancement of our proprietary STAR, Tri-STAR, and MSTAR platforms and clinical pipeline in Oncology and Inflammation & Immunology (I&I).

This role will be responsible for identifying and structuring external collaborations that align with corporate growth objectives, including strategic alliances, co-development partnerships, and capital-supplementing transactions. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of scientific fluency, transactional rigor, and cross-functional leadership to help shape and execute Marengo’s external engagement strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue strategic partnerships with biopharma companies, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead end-to-end deal processes, including outreach, diligence, term sheet negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Develop and maintain a robust network of industry contacts to support ongoing and future BD initiatives.
  • Directly support clinical development teams in the design, execution, and external communication of early-phase immuno-oncology trials.
  • Lead and structure partnerships supporting clinical combination studies (e.g., Invikafusp alfa/ADC), including with pharma/biotech collaborators and translational research networks.
  • Proactively identify and negotiate clinical collaboration agreements to strategically enhance the profile of Invikafusp alfa (STAR
    0602) across multiple tumor types.
  • Drive platform out‑licensing and co‑development discussions globally, leveraging the potential of the Tri‑STAR platform.
  • Lead and structure business development activities for the emerging I&I/autoimmune pipeline, including therapeutic area‑specific partnerships for the MSTAR T‑cell depletion platform.
  • Proactively engage with global regulatory authorities, trial sites, and contract research organizations to accelerate advancement of lead immunotherapy assets.
  • Craft and deliver clinical and scientific updates tailored for investors, strategic partners, and conference audiences.
Capital Strategy & Transactional Support
  • Collaborate with the CFO and executive team to align BD strategy with corporate financing goals
  • Support capital‑raising efforts through structured partnerships, milestone‑based collaborations, and non‑dilutive funding opportunities
  • Contribute to investor and partner‑facing materials that articulate Marengo’s platform value and clinical trajectory
  • Translate scientific and clinical insights into compelling business narratives tailored to external audiences
  • Monitor competitive landscape, emerging technologies, and market trends to inform BD strategy and asset positioning
  • Support valuation modeling, scenario planning, and strategic prioritization of pipeline assets
Cross‑functional Leadership & Internal Alignment
  • Partner with R&D, clinical, legal, and finance teams to ensure alignment on deal structure, risk mitigation, and operational execution
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CFO and executive team on external growth opportunities
  • Represent Marengo at industry conferences, partnering forums, and investor events
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in biotech/pharma business development, corporate strategy, or investment banking
  • Demonstrated success in leading and closing strategic transactions, ideally in TCR/T‑cell engaging therapies, multi‑specific antibodies, ADC/IO combinations, or early‑stage platform therapeutics.
  • Strong understanding of clinical development, regulatory pathways, and asset valuation
  • Experience with novel immuno‑oncology clinical development and regulatory considerations in early‑phase trials.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical and mechanistic data into investor and partner narratives targeted for both scientific and non‑technical audiences.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, business, or related field (PhD, MBA, or equivalent preferred)
Preferred Attributes
  • Scientific fluency with strategic acumen—able to bridge technical depth with commercial clarity
  • Experience navigating global pharma landscapes and capital structuring
  • Skilled in aligning internal stakeholders and driving execution across functions
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment with evolving priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to forge global partnerships for clinical‑stage assets, including Europe site activation and collaborations.
  • Proven adaptability and comfort operating with platform portfolios subject to prioritization based on rapidly emerging data.
  • Prior experience executing business development for assets in both oncology and autoimmune/inflammatory disease areas.
