Position Summary

We are seeking an individual with oncology research experience to join the Translational Research team within the Oncology Thematic Research Center at Bristol Myers Squibb in Cambridge, MA. The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, engaged, and organized scientist that can thrive in a highly matrixed organization. This role will support translational research lab‑based activities from the stage of development candidate optimization through Proof‑of‑Concept clinical trials.

This individual will play an important role in supporting the development and execution of translational strategies for early phase oncology assets, enabling the development of transformative cancer therapies for patients.

Position Responsibilities
  • Develop biomarker, pharmacodynamic and target engagement assays.
  • Use current and new techniques to characterize drug mechanism of action and resistance.
  • Have familiarity with commonly utilized in vitro oncology and cancer immunology models and assays.
  • Experience performing laboratory work, including cell culture and isolation of primary immune cells.
  • Execute experiments independently, troubleshoot as needed, analyze, interpret and discuss data.
  • Design and execute preclinical studies to inform indication selection, patient enrichment, rational combination strategies, and selection of biospecimen collection time points.
  • Have excellent time management skills and the ability to conduct experimental work independently, with accurate, detailed record‑keeping.
  • Display excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of academic and / or industry experience

Or

  • Master's Degree
  • 3+ years of academic and / or industry experience

Or

  • Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences
  • No experience required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree with 5+ years of industry experience. Oncology translational research experience is highly desired.
  • Experience in oncology and cancer immunology.
  • Proficient in translational research encompassing biomarker identification, PK/PD and efficacy correlations, and dose estimation.
  • Experience designing and validating novel biomarker assays for proof‑of‑concept, suitable for deployment in early‑phase clinical trials.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow translational research scientists, actively sharing expertise and ensuring smooth information exchange across programs and portfolios to strengthen teamwork and drive scientific advancement.
  • Experience performing analysis of protein, DNA, and RNA samples using a variety of methodologies including but not limited to: flow cytometry, MSD/ELISA, Western blot, qPCR, and functional assays.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners (e.g. CROs, specialty labs, etc.).
  • Ability to be flexible with changing priorities while working in a cross‑functional team.

Cambridge Crossing: $129,640 - $157,096
