Our client is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Senior Staff Accountant in Accounts Payable to join their team. This vital role offers the opportunity to impact daily financial operations and process improvements within a dynamic environment. Compensation$33.00 - $43.00 hourly / $67,200 - $91,100 annually
Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting functions, including invoice processing, payment requests, and account reconciliation.
- Lead complex month-end close activities such as segregation of duties and journal voucher preparation.
- Review and authorize transactions, interpreting related government and institutional policies.
- Troubleshoot rejected direct deposit payments and coordinate with the bank to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with the Supplier Maintenance Team on correct classification of tax with holdings and participate in year‑end tax filings.
- Address inquiries from suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding payments.
- Act as a subject matter expert to educate the community on AP policies and procedures.
- Respond promptly to email and phone inquiries while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Contribute to all AP‑related projects and initiatives.
- Analyze account data to identify root causes and recommend improvements.
- Assist in drafting and updating AP procedures and documentation.
- Review international wire transactions for authenticity and compliance.
- Perform specialized data analysis related to AP operations.
- Help streamline workflows and maintain control procedures.
- Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- At least three years of experience in financial operations, including accounting and reconciliation.
- Proven experience in delivering high-quality customer service.
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software, preferably SAP.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and federal regulations for AP.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities under strict deadlines with great attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Self‑starter with initiative, good judgment, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective team player who contributes positively and collaborates efficiently.
- Capable of responding to inquiries and escalating issues appropriately.
- Preferred:
Experience with Coupa and prior MIT experience.
